Royce Schaneman, Executive Director

Royce SchanemanRoyce began his duties as Executive Director of the Nebraska Wheat Board on September 18, 2006.

A native Nebraskan, Royce was raised on a diversified farm near Minatare.  He has an associate’s degree in agricultural economics from Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and a bachelor’s degree in diversified agriculture and animal science from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Previously, he worked as an Extension Assistant in Antelope County, Nebraska, and as a County Extension Educator in South Dakota. Royce also worked for the Nebraska Department of Agriculture for nearly eight years.  He has served as an Ag Promotion Coordinator for Value-Added Food Products and Livestock. Most recently he served as the Animal ID Coordinator for the Bureau of Animal Industry Division.

Throughout his experience, Royce has remained close to all aspects of agriculture by working with people, production, processing, and marketing of a wide variety of products.

Royce currently lives in Denton with his wife Angela and their two sons, Payton and Carson. 

Zoe Olson, Public Information Officer

Zoe OlsonZoe began her duties as Public Information Officer for the Nebraska Wheat Board on July 21, 2008.

She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and is currently working toward a master’s degree. Previously, she worked in the fields of communications and public relations at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for both the Department of Chemistry and the College of Business Administration. Zoe has also worked for the Nebraska Division of Travel and Tourism and has operated her own business. Most recently she worked as a staff development trainer for a national photography company.

Currently, Zoe was selected for the Nebraska LEAD XXIX class and is developing her leadership skills to benefit Nebraska agriculuture.

Raised in the rural community of Mason City, Zoe currently lives in Lincoln with her husband Jim. They have four children, Benjamin, Zachary, Cassie, and Noah.

Ann Bauers, Staff Assistant

Ann BauersShe spent 4 years in Teacher’s College at the University of Nebraska and an additional year at Southeast Community College taking courses through the Business Administration program. Previously, she was the Registrar for Southeast High School for 5 years and Administrative Secretary for the Program Management and Project Development Division of the Nebraska Department of Roads.

She has 2 sons, a daughter and 6 grandchildren. She also works part time as a teacher at Southeast Community College teaching dance and fitness classes.

Caroline Brauer, Intern

Caroline BrauerCaroline Brauer is a junior Agricultural Journalism major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her focuses are news-editorial and public relations. Caroline grew up in the farming community of Utica, NE, where she spent the summers pollinating research seed corn. Her interest in agriculture grew after working for the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association during the summer of 2009.

Caroline is the daughter of Robert and Kathryn Brauer. She has five siblings: Bobby, Brittany, Mikey, Katie and Becky.
