Nebraska Wheat Board members

The Nebraska Wheat Board (NWB) is made up of wheat producers representing each of the state’s seven districts.

Chris Cullan

Hemingford, NE

Chris CullanChris was appointed for a second term in July of 2009 to represent District #1 on the Nebraska Wheat Board. He represents Nebraska on the board of directors of the Wheat Marketing Center in Portland, Oregon and serves as Chair of the Hard White Wheat Committee for US Wheat Associates.

Chris and his wife Joei live with their two children on his family farm in Box Butte County. Their family produces, conditions, and markets nine Nebraska certified seed wheat varieties as well as other crops regularly grown in the area. Chris is a member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, Nebraska Wheat Growers Association, Nebraska Farm Bureau, and Nebraska Crop Improvement Association.

Rick Larson

Potter, NE

Rick LarsonRick was appointed for a second term in May of 2008 to represent District #2 on the Nebraska Wheat Board. Rick currently serves the NWB on the Biotechnology Committee.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a degree in animal science, Rick farms and ranches in Banner and Kimball Counties. He and his wife Diane farm 1500 acres of both irrigated and dryland wheat, corn, edible beans, and alfalfa. He also has a cow-calf operation. Rick is on the Kimball–Banner County Extension Board, the Banner County Wind Energy Committee, and is a member of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association and Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering. They have one daughter.

Larry Flohr

Chappell, NE

Larry FlohrLarry was appointed in June of 2007 to represent District #3 on the Nebraska Wheat Board. He currently serves the NWB as the Chairman and represents the NWB on the Variety Release Committee and the US Wheat Associates Board.

Larry and his wife Jan are certified wheat and millet seed producers. They are also part of V&F Farms, of which Larry is Corporation President. He is also a member of the Deuel County Extension Board, a board member of the Frenchman Valley Co-op, and a Tri-County Church Board Member. Larry has two children, Kris and Kevin.

Dan Hughes

Venango, NE

Dan HughesDan was appointed in July of 2006 to represent District #4 on the Nebraska Wheat Board. He is also on the board of directors for US Wheat Associates where he serves as Chairman of the Joint Long-range Planning Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee.

Dan and his wife Josie farm in northwest Chase and southwest Perkins Counties. They raise wheat, corn, millet, dry edible beans, and sunflowers. They have two children, Ashley and Tyler. Dan is a member of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association, the Perkins County School Board, Grant United Methodist Church, and the Venango Lions Club.

Von Johnson

Cambridge, NE

Von JohnsonVon was appointed for a second term in July of 2010 to represent District #5 on the Nebraska Wheat Board. He currently serves the NWB as the Vice-Chairman and represents the NWB on the Biotechnology Committee.

Von and his wife Becky live and farm in Furnas County. They raise corn and alfalfa along with certified wheat and soybeans. He is a member of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association, the United Methodist Church, the Cambridge Lions Club, and the Nebraska Crop Improvement Association.

Delferd Schlake

Blue Springs, NE

Delferd SchlakeDelferd was reappointed in July of 2009 to represent District #6 on the Nebraska Wheat Board. He represents the NWB as Chairman of Plains Grains, Inc.

Delferd and his wife Sara farm with his daughter and two sons. They raise wheat, soybeans, milo, corn, and cattle. Delferd is also a member of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association, the Farm Bureau, Southeast Co-op, and the Blue Springs Fire Board.

Brent Robertson

Elsie, NE

Brent RobertsonBrent was appointed for a second term in July of 2010 to represent District #7 on the Nebraska Wheat Board. Brent represents the NWB on the Wheat Foods Council where he serves as Secretary/Treasurer.

Brent and his wife Amy farm in Perkins, Lincoln, and Chase Counties. They raise irrigated and dryland wheat and corn. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a bachelor of science in diversified agricultural and minors in agricultural economics, animal science, and mechanized systems management. Brent is a member of the Nebraska Wheat Growers Association, Perkins County FSA COC, Perkins County Planning Commission, Elsie Fire Protection District Board, Elsie United Methodist Church, Nebraska Farm Bureau, and Certified Crop Advisors.
